Volta Regional Minister Attends 2025 ADR Week Launch, Backs Technology-Driven Justice System.
The Volta Regional Minister, on Monday, 24th November 2025, attended the launch of the 2025 ADR Week at the High Court in Ho, expressing strong support for the use of technology to expand access to justice. The ceremony brought together the Chief Justice, His Lordship Justice Paul Baffoe-Bonnie, Justice Angelina Mensah-Homiah, judges, lawyers, ADR practitioners, students from second-cycle institutions, traditional leaders, members of the security services and other high profiled dignitaries.
*To reaffirm the national foundation of ADR, the ADR Act, 2010 (Act 798) was enacted to govern ADR practice in Ghana.*
The Minister noted that the theme for this year, “Adoption of Innovation and Technology to Enhance Access to Justice Delivery through ADR,” aligns with government’s goal of creating a more efficient justice system capable of supporting the 24-hour economy. He pointed to virtual hearings, online mediation platforms, automated case management, and e-signatures as tools that make justice faster, cheaper, and more accessible.
*The President of the Volta and Oti Regional Bar and Principal State Attorney for the Volta Region, Moses Ayine Asampoa* , stressed that ADR’s strength lies in its speed, flexibility, and ability to promote good-faith negotiations.
Justice Angelina Mensah-Homiah disclosed that over 37,000 cases have been settled through ADR in the last 20 years, a testament to its impact and growing public confidence.
The Chief Justice added that litigation has become costly and sometimes subject to abuse, making ADR a crucial alternative, even though not all cases can be addressed through it. He further noted that plea bargaining also falls under ADR processes and praised the ADR team for its sustained training and public sensitization efforts.
The event reinforced Ghana’s commitment to modernizing dispute resolution and ensuring that justice becomes faster, more accessible, and more responsive to the needs of citizens across the country.
