The leadership of the Trade Union Congress (TUC), led by Mrs. Edith Amenuvor Afewu, paid a courtesy call on the Volta Regional Minister to brief him on preparations for this year’s May Day celebration in Ho.

The delegation noted that the event will bring together workers from across the Volta and Oti Regions and will feature awards to recognize outstanding contributions, aimed at motivating greater productivity and dedication among workers.

They also used the opportunity to engage the Minister on the state of development in the region.

In response, the Minister expressed appreciation for the visit and commended the TUC for its continued advocacy for workers. He assured them that the region remains peaceful and is making steady progress, highlighting ongoing initiatives in road infrastructure, water supply, education, healthcare, and economic development.

Discussions also touched on stalled projects, with both parties exploring ways to support their completion.

The Minister further called on organized labour to support efforts to improve sanitation, emphasizing the need for collective responsibility.

The meeting ended with a shared commitment to strengthening collaboration for regional development and worker welfare.
