Organized Labour and TUC Calls on Volta Regional Minister, Raises Key Labour Concerns
Organized Labour and the Trades Union Congress (TUC), led by Madam Edith Abla Amenuvor Afewu on 17th March 2025, paid a courtesy call on the Volta Regional Minister, Hon. James Gunu, to discuss pressing labour and socio-economic issues.
Key concerns raised included the revival of Juapong Textile Factory, labour abuses by foreign investors, indiscipline in SHS, and the urgent need to address the Sokode town issue affecting students. The delegation also highlighted erosion problems in Fulani Korfe, challenges faced by doctors and nurses, and the reckless driving of tricycle (“Keke”) riders.
Hon. Gunu thanked the delegation, emphasizing that no country can develop without its workforce and assured them of the government’s commitment to addressing their concerns.
