The Ghana Library Authority (GLA) – Volta Region, led by Regional Director Mr. Bright Ofori, paid a courtesy call on the Regional Minister on 17th March 2025 to congratulate him on his appointment and discuss challenges facing public libraries in the Region.

During the engagement, the delegation revealed that the Volta Regional Library, which serves about 200 people daily, has been without proper toilet facilities and shelves for books, creating discomfort for patrons. Additionally, the construction of the library, which stalled in 2016, remains incomplete.

The situation is not unique to the Regional library, as all 11 libraries in the Region face significant infrastructure challenges.

The Regional Minister expressed surprise at the extent of the issues and assured the delegation of his commitment to visiting the library to assess the situation firsthand. He further pledged to collaborate with relevant stakeholders to find solutions and improve library facilities in the Region.
