The Ministry of Communication, Digital Technology and Innovations (MoCDTI), in partnership with GIFEC, launched a week-long Trainer of Trainers (😭) workshop on June 2, 2025 at the GNAT Conference Room in Ho. The program, which began at 9:00 am, gathered 100 teachers from 18 districts who will train 1,000 schoolgirls in ICT, coding, AI and programming.

Chief Director Augustus Awity, opened the event by reaffirming government’s commitment to closing the gender digital divide. “This initiative aligns perfectly with our national agenda to promote STEM education and create equal opportunities in the tech sector,” he stated.

The workshop featured addresses from MoCDTI official Mr Austin Hesse, Regional Education Director Francis Yaw Agbemadi, and GIFEC representatives who emphasized the program’s role in building digital literacy. Participants formally endorsed a Code of Conduct to guide the training process.

The initiative includes follow-up mentorship sessions with female tech professionals and will culminate in an awards ceremony where top-performing girls and teachers receive laptops, certificates and cash prizes. MTN Ghana and American Towers Corporation are key sponsors supporting the program.
