Ho Hosts 2025 World No Tobacco Day Launch Against Industry Tactics
The Ghana Health Service and Food and Drug Authority (FDA) launched the 2025 World No Tobacco Day at Ho Technical University under the theme “Unmasking the Appeal: Exposing Industry Tactics.” Chief Director Augustus Awity, representing the Regional Minister, emphasized government efforts to combat tobacco use, stating, “There is no safe form of tobacco—we must act collectively.” The event featured awards, cultural performances, and expert presentations by Dr. Olivia Boateng (FDA) and WHO representatives. Health Minister Kwabena Akandoh’s keynote, delivered by Dr. Hafissah Adams, highlighted concerns over youth tobacco consumption. Nene Keteku IV, Paramount Chief of Agotime, urged traditional leaders to support anti-tobacco campaigns. The program concluded with a call for stricter enforcement of tobacco control policies nationwide.
