Hohoe Municipal Assembly Maintains Its Position as the Best Performing Assembly in Volta Region
The Hohoe Municipal Assembly has maintained its position as the Best Performing Assembly in the Volta Region in the 3rd and 4th Quarter of the 2021 Volta Regional Co-ordinating Council Routine Quarterly Monitoring Report. This information was revealed by the Regional Economic Planning Officer (REPO), Rev. Isaac Adza Tettey at a meeting held to disseminate the 3rd and 4th Quarter Monitoring Reports. The meeting was held at the Residency Conference Hall of the Volta Regional Co-ordinating Council. Participants included the Hon. Municipal/District Chief Executives of the Assemblies and some of their key officers. The Hon. Volta Regional Minister, Dr. Archibald Yao Letsa, and some key officers of the Co-ordinaing Council also participated in the meeting.
Rev. Adza Tettey while presenting the report noted that the Anloga District Assembly, the youngest in the Region, was one to watch as it has been performing creditably in the various monitoring exercises conducted.
He indicated that the commendable performance of the Anloga District Assembly could be attributed to teamwork, and the leadership style of the Hon. District Chief Executive, Mr. Seth Yormewu. In view of that, the opportunity was given to Mr. Yormewu to share with participants what was behind the Assembly’s success story. He mentioned teamwork and stated he never lorded himself over the staff of the Assembly.
He posited that he saw himself as an integral part of the staff, and was open to their pieces of advice and suggestions.
The Acting Chief Director of the Co-ordinating Council, Mr. Prosper Afenyo, in his opening remarks stated that the meeting was to provide feedback on the performance of the Assemblies. He commended the Assemblies for their commitment notwithstanding the economic challenges the country faces. He expressed the hope that there would be a rebound in the economy and that could be achieved through the performance of the various Assemblies and other institutions.
He entreated the Assemblies to think out of the box and be resilient in order to perform well.
The Hon. Regional Minister on his part, commended REPO for helping transform the Co-ordinating Council. He also commended the Regional Planning Co-ordinating Unit of the Council for the great work it was doing in the area of Co-ordination, Monitoring and Evaluation of programs and activities of the various Assemblies.
Dr. Letsa emphasized the need for teamwork in all the Assemblies citing as an example the level of teamwork at the Co-ordinating Council.
He also called for humility among the leadership of the various Assemblies and entreated them to be committed to work as a team.
Furthermore, the Hon. Regional Minister advised that management of the respective Assemblies meet the following week to discuss the Monitoring Reports. He assured the Assemblies of the availability of the Co-ordinating Council to support them deliver on their mandates.
In addition, he expressed appreciation to the Assemblies for their continued support for the activities of the Co-ordinating Council.
He concluded with the hope that at least ten (10) Assemblies of the Region would be among the first fifty Assemblies of the country in the 2021 Local Government Service Performance Contract Assessment.
The Volta Regional Co-ordinating Council is mandated to conduct Quarterly Monitoring and evaluation of the Assemblies, and disseminate reports on the monitoring and evaluation exercise with the Assemblies.
