VRCC Strengthens Ghana–China Investment Cooperation
The Volta Regional Coordinating Council (VRCC), led by the Hon. Volta Regional Minister, James Gunu, joined government officials, Chinese investors, and Togbe Afede XIV at the China (Guangdong)–Ghana 24-Hour Economic Policy and Business Cooperation Exchange Conference, held at the Marriott Hotel, Liberation Road.
The conference provided a platform for meaningful dialogue on deepening trade and investment partnerships between Ghana and China. It featured insightful addresses from Mr. Chen Jiehua and Mr. Ye Zhenqin from the Guangdong delegation, who expressed China’s readiness to strengthen cooperation under Ghana’s 24-hour economy initiative.
In his remarks, Hon. James Gunu emphasized the importance of the Volta Economic Corridor Project, describing it as a key initiative to harness the Volta Lake’s potential for agriculture, aquaculture, water transport, and industrial development, while creating sustainable jobs and promoting inclusive growth.
A major highlight of the event was the signing of a landmark MOU between Strategic Initiative Ltd., represented by Togbe Afede XIV, and HN Industry Group Ltd., witnessed by Hon. James Gunu. The agreement is expected to facilitate the introduction of a Chinese Bank into Ghana market and strategic investments that will drive economic growth and industrial cooperation between Ghana and China.
Togbe Afede also noted an earlier milestone achieved today — the signing of an MOU between Asogli Power and the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) reinforcing Ghana’s commitment to renewable energy and sustainable development.
The VRCC commends these initiatives as significant steps toward advancing Ghana’s economic transformation agenda, deepening international cooperation, and positioning the Volta Region as a strategic hub for investment and industrial growth.
