Volta Regional Minister Commends Global Church for 800-Bed UHAS Hostel Project
The Volta Regional Minister, Hon. James Gunu, has lauded the Global Evangelical Empowerment Union (GEEU) for initiating an 800-seater bed hostel facility to support students of the University of Health and Allied Sciences (UHAS).
Hon. Gunu made the remarks when he attended the sod-cutting ceremony for the project at Adaklu Kodzobi. He noted that inadequate accommodation remains one of the major challenges confronting UHAS students and described the hostel project as a timely and commendable intervention.
The Regional Minister also touched on the growing difficulty in accessing skilled artisans, explaining that this challenge partly informed the President’s decision to introduce the National Apprenticeship Programme, aimed at building technical and vocational skills among the youth.
The ceremony was attended by the Moderator, Rt. Rev.Prosper Samuel Dzomeku, Vice-Chancellor of UHAS, Prof. Lydia Aziato, the District Chief Executive for Adaklu, Hon. Jerry Ameko, traditional authorities, clergy, and other distinguished guests.
The hostel project, spearheaded by the Global Church, is expected to significantly ease accommodation pressure on UHAS students upon completion.
