Yesterday, the Volta Region under the leadership of Hon. James Gunu proudly hosted H. E. John Dramani Mahama, Ministers of State, Members of Parliament, Members of the Council of State, our respected traditional rulers, Chief Executive Officers, MMDCEs, farmers, fishers and people from across the country at the Ho Sports Stadium for the 41st Farmers’ Day celebration themed “Feed Ghana, Eat Ghana, Secure the Future.”

This celebration was more than a gathering. It was a national salute to the men and women whose daily work keeps our food systems standing. Our farmers, fishers, processors and value chain actors push through tough conditions with limited resources, yet they keep the nation supplied with food, income and hope. They remain the backbone of rural life and a vital force in Ghana’s growth.

The President underscored this by pointing to ongoing investments that strengthen agriculture. The expansion of the Adidome Water Treatment Plant will ensure reliable water for Ho and surrounding communities, supporting better health and productivity for our farming families. Work on the Ho Denu Road and the Aflao Market will ease the movement of goods, open up markets and boost the regional food economy. These projects are tied directly to the future of agriculture and the livelihoods it supports.

According to the Volta Regional Minister, Hon. James Gunu, as honour our farmers and fishers, we renew our commitment to policies, financing, technology and infrastructure that help them thrive in a changing global food system.

To all guests, investors, development partners and friends of the Volta Region, we say a warm welcome. May this celebration inspire stronger collaboration, new ideas and deeper investment as we work together to Feed Ghana, Eat Ghana and Secure the Future.

We also congratulate 82 year old Opanyin Abraham Kwaku Adusei, the 2025 National Best Farmer. His lifelong service reflects the discipline and passion that move our nation forward. We salute all award winners for their essential contributions to food security and development.

God bless our farmers and fishers.

God bless Ghana.

God bless the Volta Region. 🙏
