The Volta Regional Minister, Hon. James Gunu, has reaffirmed Government’s commitment to private sector–led growth and industrial expansion at the VOKIA Excellence Awards Ceremony, held to celebrate innovation, professionalism, and excellence within the agribusiness and agro-processing sector.

Delivering a keynote address, the Minister said the Mahama-led Government is prioritising job creation, SME growth, and industrialisation through key interventions such as the 24-Hour Economy policy, improved access to affordable financing, skills development, and sustained investment in infrastructure, energy stability, digitalisation, and value-chain development, aimed at creating an enabling environment for businesses to thrive.

The CEO of VOKIA Foods, Mr. Vozbeth K. Azumah, highlighted challenges facing the agro-processing sector, including post-harvest losses, limited industrial activity, and rising rural-urban migration. He noted that VOKIA was established as a deliberate response to these challenges and is steadily expanding its operations domestically and internationally under the theme “From Promise to Progress.”

Mr. Azumah announced plans for a 12-acre VOKIA Industrial City Project between 2026 and 2029, expected to generate over 300 direct jobs and more than 400 indirect jobs, while aligning strongly with the Government’s 24-Hour Economy agenda.

The ceremony recognised outstanding staff and partners whose dedication continues to drive the company’s growth, including its expansion into the Greater Accra and Eastern Regions as well as international markets such as the USA and Canada.

In a show of support, Hon. James Gunu made a cash donation to VOKIA in support of the company’s excellence awards and its commitment to job creation and industrial development. He congratulated all award recipients and extended Christmas goodwill to the leadership and staff of VOKIA, calling for stronger collaboration between government and the private sector to accelerate sustainable development.
