The Volta Regional Minister, Hon. James Gunu, on the second day of his working tour, met with the Hohoe Municipal Assembly to interact with staff and assess progress made in the municipality. The Municipal Chief Executive, Hon. Prosper Kumi, in his briefing, highlighted that revenue mobilization was improving significantly with the Hohoe Urban Council performing very well. On sanitation, he reported that the municipality has been divided into ten zones with cleaners appropriately allocated to ensure a cleaner environment. He further indicated that the administration inherited an uncompleted 20-unit store project at the Hohoe main lorry station, which was unroofed, but has now been roofed and is awaiting certification for the next phase of construction. He also mentioned that management has devised a strategy to clear outstanding claims. In addition, a report on the ownership of the Hohoe Stadium has been submitted to the Regional Minister for further action. In his response, Hon. James Gunu commended the Assembly for their efforts and encouraged them to be innovative and creative in developing new ideas that will propel the municipality forward. He also outlined his three-point agenda for the Volta Region which are maintaining peace and security to attract and sustain investments into the Region, assisting Municipal and District Chief Executives (MDCEs) to effectively deliver on their mandates, and collaborating with all stakeholders in the region to bring to fruition President Mahama’s development agenda. The Minister assured the Assembly of his support and urged staff to remain committed to the growth of the municipality as the meeting offered a highly interactive platform for staff to engage directly with him on issues affecting their work and the development of Hohoe.
