Representatives of the Parliamentary Select Committee on Local Government on Tuesday, 11th May 2021 paid a courtesy call on the Hon. Volta Regional Minister, Dr. Archibald Yao Letsa, at the office, Ho.
The visit was part of the Committee’s nationwide tour of all Local Government offices in the country.
The Representatives were led by the Chairman of the Committee, and Hon. Member of Parliament for Odotobri Constituency in the Ashanti Region, Mr. Emmanuel Akwasi Gyamfi.
In his remarks, Mr. Gyamfi mentioned that, they had visited some districts in the Oti Region and monitored some ongoing projects. He indicated the Committee’s resolve to push for the release of funds towards such projects to engender their completion.
With regard to the Volta Region, he requested that challenges with completion of projects, especially funding challenges, be made known to them since funds were being approved for the completion of stalled and abandoned projects in Assemblies across the country.
Mr. Benjamin Kpodo, the Hon. Member of Parliament for Ho Central Constituency and a member of the Committee, on his part, stated that contracts and projects in the various districts awarded from Accra must be made known to the Political Heads in the various Regions in order for proper monitoring and supervision to be carried out.
The Hon. Volta Regional Minister, on his part, expressed his appreciation to the Committee for the courtesy call and wished them a successful duty tour of the region.
