The 71st Speech and Prize-Giving Day of Our Lady of Apostles (OLA) Senior High School, Ho, was held in grand style, celebrating academic excellence and the role of female entrepreneurs in driving socio-economic growth. The event coincided with the Silver Jubilee of the 1999 and 2000 Year Groups of POGA, who generously sponsored this year’s awards ceremony.

Speaking at the event, Headmistress Ms. Benedicta Amata Mawunyo Agbezudor reaffirmed the school’s commitment to providing holistic education that empowers young women with knowledge, skills, and values to navigate a changing world with confidence and integrity. She lauded the past students for their continuous support in maintaining OLA SHS’s legacy of excellence.

Hon. James Gunu, Volta Regional Minister, delivered his speech emphasizing the importance of empowering women as economic leaders. He highlighted the theme, “Championing the Course of Female Entrepreneurs as Catalysts for Change and Socio-Economic Growth,” stressing that women-owned businesses play a crucial role in national development. He reaffirmed government support for women and policies that promote gender equality in business and leadership.

Hon. Gunu encouraged the students to dream big, reminding them that they are the next generation of entrepreneurs, CEOs, and leaders shaping Ghana’s future. He also praised OLA SHS for its impact on society, producing trailblazers in various fields, and urged alumni to continue mentoring and supporting young women.

The event celebrated students’ academic and extracurricular achievements while reinforcing OLA SHS’s commitment to raising principled, hardworking, and high-achieving female leaders.
