The Volta Region, the Regional Environmental Health Officer, madam Stella Kumedzro met with the Municipal and District Environmental Health Officers (MDEHOs) on the 13th of June, 2025. The second quarter meeting was used as training on Budget preparation for the Municipal/District Environmental Health Officer. The goal of this training was to prepare the district officers to create a budget for their cleanliness efforts and responsibly disburse any cash. Mr. Lokko Derrick, a staff from the Budget Unit of the Volta Regional Coordinating Council took the officers through some budget preparation technicalities. Some of these are how to create budget lines and not just leave the workload on the budget officers to carry out on their behalf. He further reiterated that each budget should contain clear and concise activities and the funds required for the said activities.

The meeting further discussed issues pertaining the unit and a committee was formed to outline the unit’s activities and to prepare a standardize and uniformed checklist for the region. The Committee members includes Mr. Daniel Kumah (DEHO, Ho West), Charlotte Botchway (DEHO, Afadzato South), and Matilda Anyidoho (DEHO, South Dayi).

The Regional Environmental Health Officer, Madam Stella Kumedzro, also used the opportunity to brief the house on a template design created by the Regional Environmental Health Unit to be adopted by the Region for use in monitoring Districts as part of the Clean City initiative. This is done ahead of the official launch to prepare cities in the Region for this remarkable award and achievement.
