Volta Regional Minister, Dr. Archibald Letsa has said corrupt officials who come begging him in his house to intercede for them will surely face proper auditing and possible prosecution.

Dr. Letsa who made this known at Dambai in the Oti Region while inspecting some temporary facilities earmarked to host the Oti Regional Coordinating Council in the interim said: “terrible crimes happen in our assemblies”.

Chiding public officials who will be posted to the new Oti Region to be diligent in their work, Dr. lecture said “the bus stops with Metropolitan Municipal and District Chief Executives and so they will be held responsible… You cannot say you are not aware, if you are not aware, you are in trouble, if you are aware, you are in trouble.”

“Terribly, criminal things are happening within our assemblies… I assure you the evil things you have been doing will be unearthed and you will face prosecution for them so be careful. Some assembly officials recently attempted stealing GHc170,000. They concocted a project on paper, went and found a contractor, took his papers and paid the money into his account and collected it…When you see people in suit stealing the tax payers money, I feel pained in my heart.” Dr. Letsa lamented.

The minister warned them that the Oti enclave will not see the development it yearns for which brought about the creation of the Oti Region if the employees of the new region are self-seeking and self-serving.
