Commercial National Motor Riders Union Calls on Volta Regional Minister
The Volta Regional Minister, Hon. James Gunu, has received a delegation from the Commercial National Motor Riders Union, led by their Regional Chairman Mr. Kwame Dorsu.
The Union announced plans to embark on a stakeholder engagement exercise across all 18 districts of the region to sensitise riders and the public on their operations. They sought the Minister’s blessings to roll out the initiative.
Hon. Gunu welcomed the idea and requested a clear roadmap for the regional tour, assuring them of the support and participation of the Volta Regional Coordinating Council (VRCC). He commended the Union for working to correct negative perceptions about riders, stressing that in many towns and villages, motorcycles are the only means of transport. He further noted that the Mahama administration will ensure proper regulation of the sector.
The Minister also advised the Union to institute a welfare system to support members in need and encouraged them to register with SSNIT as a way of securing their future.
