VRCC Convenes First Statutory Meeting to Advance Regional Development Agenda
The Volta Regional Coordinating Council (VRCC) has held its first statutory meeting for 2025 at the Residency Conference Hall in Ho. The session was chaired by the Volta Regional Minister, Hon. James Gunu.
The meeting brought together Municipal and District Chief Executives (MDCEs), Presiding Members, Coordinating Directors, Heads of Government Institutions, representatives from the Regional House of Chiefs, development partners, civil society organizations, and other key stakeholders.
In his keynote address, Hon. Gunu outlined a renewed vision for the Region anchored on peace and stability, enhanced service delivery by MMDCEs, and stronger collaboration with stakeholders. His remarks were aligned with President John Mahama’s national agenda of “Resetting Ghana for jobs, accountability, and prosperity.”
The meeting featured updates on critical development sectors including the economy, infrastructure, agriculture, disaster management, water and sanitation, education, and security. Stakeholders were also briefed on current interventions, progress made, and policy directions moving forward.
Dr. Emmanuel Atsu Dodor of the Ghana Health Service delivered a presentation on the prevalence and containment of Mpox in the region. Mr. Felix Adom Boateng, the Regional Economic Planning Officer, also gave an overview of the 2026–2029 Medium-Term Development Plan, highlighting the roles of stakeholders in advancing the region’s economic transformation. There were other presentations as well.
The session concluded with an open forum, where participants shared insights, identified gaps, and proposed practical solutions to support regional growth. Hon. Gunu commended participants for their commitment and called for unity of purpose in delivering on the shared development agenda.
