The Volta Regional Minister, Hon. James Gunu, has opened a five-day Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) Capacity Building Workshop for members of the Volta and Oti Regional Peace Councils at the Freedom Hotel in Ho.

Organised by the Volta Regional Peace Council in collaboration with Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ), the training aims to strengthen participants’ skills in mediation and other ADR mechanisms to promote nonviolent conflict resolution.

Hon. Gunu commended the organisers for their commitment to peacebuilding, noting that conflicts are inevitable but can be addressed in ways that preserve relationships and foster development. He emphasised that peace is the foundation for sustainable growth and urged participants to apply the knowledge gained in their communities.

The workshop is expected to deepen understanding of ADR processes and enhance the councils’ capacity to prevent and disputes, contributing to a more tolerant and united Ghana.
