The Volta Regional Minister, Hon. James Gunu, together with the Member of Parliament for South Tongu,Hon Maxwell Lukutor, the District Chief Executive, Hon. Victoria Dzeklo and other officials, moved to Lakpo after an earlier engagement to cut the sod for the construction of a three-unit classroom block with ancillary facilities.

The project, when completed, will include a Headteacher’s office, staff common room, stores and toilet facilities, aimed at improving teaching and learning conditions in the community.

In his remarks, Hon. James Gunu noted that the government, under the leadership of President John Dramani Mahama, has effectively deepened the decentralisation process to ensure that development reaches all districts. He emphasized that projects such as the Lakpo classroom block are clear evidence of government’s commitment to equitable development across the country.

The Regional Minister appealed to the people of Lakpo to cooperate with and support the contractor to ensure the timely and quality completion of the project.

As part of his visit, Hon. Gunu also donated GH¢20,000 towards the Lakpo water project under his Water for All initiative, which was earlier supported by Victor Electronics. He expressed appreciation to the community for their own financial contribution towards the water project, describing it as a strong show of commitment to local development.
