On 19th March 2025, the Volta Regional Minister, Hon. James Gunu, led a delegation to the Lands Commission office in Ho to engage with the staff and address challenges affecting their operations. The Lands Commission, established under Article 258 of the 1992 Constitution and the Lands Commission Act, 2008 (Act 767), is responsible for managing public lands, advising on land use policies, and maintaining a comprehensive land information system.

Mr. Emmanuel Atitogbui, the Principal Lands Officer, along with his team, welcomed the Minister and outlined several operational challenges:

  • Fragmented Offices: The Commission operates from two separate locations in Ho due to space constraints, hindering efficiency.
  • Overcrowded Workspaces: Staff are working in cramped conditions, affecting productivity.
  • Logistical Limitations: There is a shortage of essential resources necessary for optimal performance.

Mr. Atitogbui emphasized the need for a unified office space to serve as a one-stop shop, enhancing service delivery and operational efficiency.

In response, Hon. James Gunu expressed gratitude for the warm reception and acknowledged the critical role of the Lands Commission in safeguarding state property. He assured the staff of his commitment to collaborate with relevant stakeholders to address their challenges, emphasizing that empowering the Commission is vital for the protection and management of public lands.
