A delegation from COCOBOD Hohoe, led by Mr. Frank Amoah-Frimpong, has called on the Volta Regional Minister, Hon. James Gunu, appealing for his support as REGSEC Chairman to help curb the growing menace of cocoa smuggling.

Hon. Gunu recalled how, during his time as DCE of Akatsi North, he and his security team intercepted over 100 bags of cocoa at Ave Dakpa. He noted that smugglers now use more sophisticated methods, underscoring the need for stronger collaborative efforts.

He further emphasized that President John Dramani Mahama’s pledge to establish a cocoa processing factory in the Volta Region is one of the lasting solutions to the challenge.
