Hon. James Gunu Joins International Literacy Day Celebration in Ho.
The Volta Regional Minister, Hon. James Gunu, on Monday, September 8, 2025, joined pupils, educators, and stakeholders at the Ho Bankoe Elorm Parish to mark this year’s International Literacy Day under the theme “Promoting Literacy in the Digital Era.”
In his address, Hon. Gunu commended Literacy Ambassadors Ghana (LAG) and their partners for championing literacy as a tool for empowerment, opportunity, and progress. He noted that under the Resetting Agenda of H.E. John Dramani Mahama, education remains a central pillar of transformation, with policies aimed at expanding access, bridging the digital divide, and promoting a strong reading culture among children and youth.
The Minister emphasized the importance of digital literacy in preparing the next generation for the opportunities of the new economy, while encouraging pupils to make reading a daily habit and to embrace technology responsibly. He also reaffirmed the Volta Regional Coordinating Council’s commitment to supporting initiatives that promote literacy, innovation, and digital inclusion across the region.
Hon. Gunu applauded all partners, teachers, and community leaders contributing to literacy development, and congratulated those honoured at the event for their outstanding service.
