Delegation from the Office of the National Chief Imam Pays Courtesy Call on the Hon. Regional Minister
The Volta Regional Coordinating Council as part of its efforts to resolve the impasse generated by contending parties to the post of Regional Chief Imam, in order to maintain relative peace in the Ho Moslem Community, wrote to the National Chief Imam for his intervention.
In response to the letter from the Council, a delegation from the Office of the National Chief Imam has been dispatched to address the issue. The delegation on arrival has paid a courtesy call on the Hon. Regional Minister, Dr. Archibald Yao Letsa at the the Council.
During interaction, the Hon. Regional Minster made it clear to the delegation that the conflict was a religious one which must be resolved by the leadership of Moslems in the country according to what the Qur’an stipulates.
Furthermore, he indicated that as the leader of the Region, he had nothing to do with the selection of an Imam or any religious leader apart from ensuring peace prevail in every community in the Region.
Finally, Dr. Letsa expressed the hope that with the intervention of the National Chief Imam, the conflict would soon become a thing of the past.
