The Chief Director of the Volta Regional Coordinating Council has charged the Regional Department of Agriculture to increase Research – Extension – Farmer linkages in the region to boost agriculture production.

The Chief Director bemoaned the low rate of Research – Extension – Farmer linkages in the region and attributed the low interest of the youth in the agriculture sector to the laborious nature of the sector and the low penetration of improved methods and practices.

“With the abundance of research findings sitting on shelves in research institutions and universities, we must take it upon ourselves to bring these findings into the practice of agriculture to help improve the lots of our people in the sector. Agriculture is the mainstay of the country to making the needed investment in the sector,”

The Regional Department of Agriculture in response assured the Chief Director of taking up the responsibility to increase Research – Extension – Farmer linkages in the Region.
