Volta Regional Minister Chairs Launch of GJA Press Centre Phase II Project
The Volta Regional Minister, Hon. James Gunu, on Thursday, September 4, 2025, chaired the launch of the Phase II Project of the Ghana Journalists Association (GJA) Press Centre in Ho. The brief event, held at the Press Centre, brought together journalists, stakeholders, and partners to raise funds towards the timely completion of the facility.
In his address as Chairman, Hon. Gunu underscored the importance of the Press Centre, describing it as “a symbol of our identity, spirit, and legacy”. He called on all stakeholders to rally behind the project to ensure that the media in the Volta Region has a befitting space for professional work, engagements, and training.
The Regional Minister expressed the hope that the facility would be completed and commissioned by May 3, 2026, to coincide with World Press Freedom Day. He pledged his personal support by donating GH₵20,000, 100 bags of cement, 1 trip of chippings, 2 trips of sand, and 1,000 concrete blocks towards the project.
The GJA Phase II project, which began in 2019, will include an upper floor with a 120-seater conference room, a boardroom, reception area, offices, and an accommodation block. Once completed, it will serve as a befitting home for media engagements and professional development in the Region.
Hon. Gunu reaffirmed the government’s commitment to supporting the work of journalists, stressing that a strong and vibrant media is essential for deepening democracy and promoting good governance.
