The Stevens Hotel in Ho hosted a crucial multi-stakeholder dialogue where government officials, development partners, traditional leaders, and civil society convened to address the pressing water and sanitation challenges facing the Volta Region. The event, organized by the Volta Regional Coordinating Council (VRCC) in collaboration with Community Focus Foundation Ghana (CFF-Ghana), was held under the theme “Building resilient water and sanitation systems in the Volta Region; the role of relevant stakeholders.”

Volta Regional Minister Hon. James Gunu, the Guest of Honour, delivered a powerful address framing access to clean water and proper sanitation as a fundamental necessity central to the government’s 24-Hour Economy vision. He revealed the Region urgently requires 900 boreholes and highlighted progress through the “Water for All Initiative.” The minister directly linked water security to national projects, stating that “Feed Ghana cannot succeed without Move Ghana, and Move Ghana cannot succeed without Water for All,” while outlining plans to develop the Volta Lake Economic Corridor for aquaculture, transport, and tourism. He emphasized that every borehole drilled and every sanitation system improved represents an investment in health, productivity, and human dignity, concluding with a call to translate dialogue into actionable commitments.

The gathering featured technical presentations from water resources engineers and coalitions in the water and sanitation sector, with a youth activist ensuring younger perspectives were included. A plenary session allowed community leaders and participants to engage directly with experts, fostering collaborative problem-solving.
