On Thursday, 24th January 2025, the Volta Regional Coordinating Council (VRCC) witnessed the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between the Strengthening Investments in Gender Responsive Adaptation (SIGRA) Project and two partner assemblies: Anloga District and Akatsi North District.

The brief but impactful ceremony, which lasted 40 minutes, was held at the VRCC premises and signified a key step towards advancing climate actions and inclusive governance by enhancing resilience for women and vulnerable groups. The Chief Director of VRCC, Mr. Augustus K. Awity, witnessed for the Partner Assemblies during the signing, underscoring the council’s commitment to fostering regional development through collaborative initiatives.

The ceremony was graced by key stakeholders, including the Regional Co-ordinating Director (RCD), the Regional Development Planning Officer (RDPO), Regional Budget Analyst (RBA), officials from SIGRA, Regional Directors of Gender and the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), as well as the respective District Co-ordinating Directors (DCDs) and District Development Planning Officers (DDPOs).

Speaking at the event, SIGRA officials Mr Elvis Otoo, Governance Advisor and Mr Iddrisu Issahaku, Regional Development Officer highlighted the significance of the project in promoting inclusive climate adaptation planning, budgeting, and implementation for participating Districts.

The successful signing of the MOU sets the stage for the implementation of programs aimed at transforming practices in Anloga and Akatsi North, further solidifying the Volta Region’s position as a hub for sustainable development initiatives.
