Volta Regional Minister Launches CIHRM Volta/Oti Chapter, Calls HR Professionals “Pivotal” to Industrial Growth
The Hon. James Gunu, Volta Regional Minister, was the Special Guest of Honour at the official launch of the Volta/Oti Chapter of the Chartered Institute of Human Resource Management (CIHRM) Ghana on Saturday, 23rd August 2025.
The event, held at Hotel Stevens in Ho under the theme “The HR Professional: The Pivot of Industrial Growth,” brought together HR practitioners, industry leaders, and policymakers.
In his address, Hon. Gunu directly linked the role of HR professionals to the national economic vision outlined in H.E. President John Mahama’s 2025 Budget, themed “Resetting the Economy for the Ghana We Want.” He highlighted the budget’s focus on removing burdensome taxes, significant investment in skills development, and major infrastructure programs, stating that HR managers are the crucial link between these national policies and tangible industrial growth within organizations.
The Minister charged the newly inaugurated chapter executives, led by Chairman Mr. Stanley Akabua, to drive transformation by preparing the workforce for new opportunities, promoting ethical practices, and fostering innovation.
The establishment of the chapter marks a significant step in advancing professional HR standards and networking across the Volta and Oti regions.
