VOLTA REGIONAL MINISTER JOINS EPCG ATIAVI FOR 100TH ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATION; ANNOUNCES GETFund DINING HALL AND DOMITORY PROJECT FOR ATSIAVI SHS.
The Volta Regional Minister, Hon. James Gunu, today, joined the congregation of the Evangelical Presbyterian Church, Ghana (EPCG), Atiavi, to celebrate the Church’s 100th Anniversary Thanksgiving Service. He was accompanied by Hon. Wisdom B. Seade, Municipal Chief Executive for Keta, and Hon. Daniel Dagba, District Chief Executive for Akatsi North.
Delivering his address on behalf of the President of the Republic, H.E. John Dramani Mahama, Hon. Gunu congratulated the church for reaching a century of unwavering service, spiritual guidance, and community transformation. He acknowledged the EPCG’s contributions to education, healthcare, and moral development, describing its century-long mission as a “shining light” to Ghana.
In his remarks, the Minister announced that the Government, through GETFund, is set to construct a modern dining hall and dormitory facility for Atsiavi Secondary School. He noted that advertisements have already been published, inviting qualified contractors to bid for the project. He further revealed that plans are underway to secure boarding status for the school, a move aimed at enhancing discipline, academic performance, and overall educational outcomes.
Hon. Gunu also highlighted the Volta Economic Corridor, a transformative initiative under President Mahama’s administration — designed to expand economic opportunities, open trade routes, and generate decent jobs across the region.
The well-attended thanksgiving service was graced by Rt. Rev. Dr. Lt. Col. (Rtd.) Bliss Divine Agbeko, Moderator of the EPCG General Assembly; Rev. Dr. Lawson Dzanku, Clerk of the General Assembly; as well as several Reverend Ministers, traditional leaders, elder statesmen, and dignitaries from across the region.
The Minister extended warm greetings from President Mahama, commended the Church for its resilience and generational impact, and encouraged the congregation to remain steadfast in faith and service. He expressed hope that the next century of the Church would yield even greater blessings to the community, the Volta Region, and Ghana at large.
