Volta Regional Minister Graces Closing of Rice Master Training Programme in Ho
The Volta Regional Minister, Hon. James Gunu, on Friday, 1st August 2025, joined participants and stakeholders at the closing ceremony of the Rice Master Training Programme (RMTP) held at the Freedom Hotel in Ho.
The programme, led by AfricaRice in partnership with the MOVE project, GIZ, and ECOWAS, brought together 90 participants across West Africa who were trained in various aspects of the rice value chain.
In his address, Hon. Gunu commended the initiative as a timely intervention aligned with government’s 2025 Budget priorities, particularly in reducing rice importation. He highlighted ongoing government efforts including irrigation expansion, improved access to inputs, and investment in modern rice mills.
The Minister also shared his recent visits to rice farms in the Volta Region, emphasizing his commitment to ensuring that government interventions respond directly to farmers’ needs. He pledged continued support from the region to promote innovation and job creation in the local rice sector.
Certificates were awarded to participants, with dignitaries including officials from MoFA, AfricaRice, GIZ, and Pneuma Foods taking part. The ceremony marked the successful end of Edition 1, Session 3 of the RMTP.
