Volta Regional Minister Attends GCB Bank Union Conference, Highlights MSME Support for Economic Growth
The Hon. James Gunu, Volta Regional Minister, delivered a keynote address at the 6th Quadrennial Delegates Conference of the GCB Bank Professional and Managerial Staff Union (PMSU) on Saturday, 23rd August 2025, at the Volta Serene Hotel in Ho.
The conference, themed “Strengthening the Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSME) sectors for economic transformation of Ghana, the role of GCB Bank Plc,” brought together delegates, union executives, and banking professionals to discuss strategic initiatives aimed at boosting Ghana’s economic resilience.
In his address, Hon. Gunu emphasized the critical role of MSMEs as the backbone of Ghana’s economy and commended GCB Bank for its ongoing support to small businesses through accessible credit, financial literacy programs, and tailored banking solutions. He also highlighted the alignment of the bank’s efforts with national initiatives such as President John Mahama’s proposed 24-Hour Economy and the government’s 2025 budget themed “Resetting the Economy for the Ghana We Want.”
The Minister reaffirmed the Volta Regional Coordinating Council’s commitment to partnering with financial institutions like GCB Bank to create an enabling environment for investment, enterprise growth, and sustainable regional development.
The conference included solidarity messages, reports, and strategic deliberations aimed at enhancing the bank’s contribution to national economic transformation.
Also in attendance were representatives from UNICOF-TUC, the Managing Director of GCB Bank Plc, the Board Chairman, and other dignitaries.
