The Volta Regional Coordinating Council (VRCC) successfully held its second Regional Coordinating Council meeting at the Residency Conference Room, bringing together key stakeholders to deliberate on critical issues shaping the region’s development agenda. The meeting, chaired by the Outgoing Volta Regional Minister, Dr. Archibald Yao Letsa, provided a platform for collaboration, review, and forward planning.

The meeting began with an opening remark by the Coordinating Director Mr Augustus K. Awity, who welcomed all members and emphasized the importance of the agenda in driving regional development. The Coordinating Director commended the commitment of council members and stakeholders toward the advancement of the region and urged all present to actively contribute to the discussions.

One of the initial items on the agenda was the reading and adoption of the minutes from the previous meeting. Members reviewed the minutes thoroughly, ensuring that all resolutions and actions from the prior session were accurately captured and followed up appropriately. After a brief discussion, the minutes were unanimously adopted, setting the stage for further deliberations.

A key highlight of the meeting was a presentation by the Regional Economic Planning Officer, Mr. Felix Adom Boateng. The presentation provided an overview of the preparation process for the 2026-2029 Medium-Term Development Plan (MTDP). The Planning Officer outlined the critical roles of stakeholders in shaping the MTDP, emphasizing the need for inclusive participation and collaboration to ensure that the plan reflects the aspirations of the region.

The presentation also touched on the development outlook of the Volta Region, showcasing progress in various sectors, including health, agriculture, tourism, education, sports and infrastructure. Members engaged in a robust discussion following the presentation, providing valuable inputs to refine the MTDP preparation process.

The Outgoing Volta Regional Minister, Dr. Letsa, delivered a heartfelt closing remark, reflecting on his tenure and expressing gratitude to the council members for their unwavering support and dedication. He urged stakeholders to remain steadfast in their commitment to the region’s development, highlighting the importance of continuity and collaboration in achieving shared goals.

The meeting concluded with an open forum, allowing members to raise concerns, share ideas, and propose solutions to pressing regional issues.
