ORC Begins Business Registration Exercise in Volta Region.
A delegation from the Office of the Registrar of Companies (ORC), led by Maame Samma Peprah, on Monday, paid a courtesy call on the Volta Regional Minister, Hon. James Gunu, as they commenced their regional business registration exercise at the Volta Regional Coordinating Council in Ho.
The team explained that the outreach is part of a nationwide initiative to create awareness of the ORC’s services, encourage formalisation of businesses, and make business registration accessible to all. They noted that although the ORC currently operates in five regional offices, they are visiting areas without established branches and expressed optimism that an ORC office will be opened in the Volta Region next year.
Hon. James Gunu welcomed the team and praised their initiative, emphasising that the core purpose of decentralisation is to bring governance and essential services closer to the people. He added that the setting up of an ORC office in the region would greatly support the government’s agenda.
The Minister highlighted that under the President’s 24-Hour Economic Policy, a key component, being the Volta Economic Corridor, will require strong private-sector participation. He stated that having a local ORC office will ensure businesses receive legal backing quickly, prevent delays in business registration, and enhance revenue generation and job creation.
He concluded by reaffirming the Regional Coordinating Council’s readiness to support the ORC, noting that their services are essential to the implementation of the 24-hour economy vision.
