James Gunu, has received Ghanaian professional boxer Saviour Gad, popularly known as \u201cVolta Tyson,\u201d following his recent international title victory.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The boxer, who hails from Ketu South and is based in Agbozume, paid a courtesy call on the Minister together with his team to officially present his newly won WABA Supreme Global Super Middleweight title. Gad secured the prestigious belt after a seventh-round technical knockout victory over Eliasu Sulley on April 4, 2026, at Aborigines Beach Hotel in Keta.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Hon. James Gunu congratulated the champion for bringing pride and recognition to the Volta Region through his remarkable achievement. He noted that Gad\u2019s success is a clear demonstration of the immense sporting talent within the region.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Minister further encouraged the boxer and his team to remain focused and disciplined as they continue to raise the flag of the region and Ghana high on the international stage. He assured them of the support of the Volta Regional Coordinating Council (VRCC) in promoting sports development and nurturing young talents across the region.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Saviour Gad, who currently boasts an impressive professional record and a strong winning streak, expressed gratitude to the Minister for the warm reception and pledged to continue working hard to achieve even greater success in his boxing career.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The visit highlights the growing prominence of boxing in the Volta Region, with athletes like Gad gaining recognition through platforms such as Aborigines
