On March 18, 2025<\/strong>,<\/strong> a delegation from the School of Sports and Exercise Medicine (SSEM) at UHAS<\/strong>,<\/strong> led by Acting Dean Prof. Nii Korley Kortei<\/strong>,<\/strong> paid a courtesy call<\/strong> on the Volta Regional Minister, Hon. James Gunu<\/strong>.<\/strong> The visit aimed to congratulate him on his appointment<\/strong> and discuss key initiatives to promote sports and health in the Region.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

  1. Their proposals included:
    An Annual Football Cup<\/strong> to build studentcapacity in sports management and nutrition.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  2. Scholarships for talented but underprivileged student-athletes to study at UHAS<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n
  3. A Regional Fitness Day<\/strong> <\/strong>to encourage active lifestyles.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  4. International Day of Sport for Development and Peace (IDSDP) on April 6<\/strong>, <\/strong>where Hon. Gunu was invited asKeynote Speaker<\/strong>.<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n
  5. Support for the Sports Writers Association of Ghana (SWAG)<\/strong> <\/strong>to enhance sports coverage.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  6. Development of a Human Performance Laboratory<\/strong> <\/strong>for fitness testing and research.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n

    Hon. Gunu commended UHAS for itscommitment to sports and health<\/strong>and pledged his support to ensure thatsports development thrives in the region<\/strong>. <\/strong>He emphasized thata healthy population is key to productivity and development<\/strong>and assured them ofcollaborative efforts<\/strong>to bring their proposals to life.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
