{"id":2536,"date":"2022-01-28T17:15:00","date_gmt":"2022-01-28T17:15:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/voltaregion.gov.gh\/?p=2536"},"modified":"2023-03-30T07:28:17","modified_gmt":"2023-03-30T07:28:17","slug":"environmental-health-disinfects-communities-affected-by-tidal-waves","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/voltaregion.gov.gh\/index.php\/environmental-health-disinfects-communities-affected-by-tidal-waves\/","title":{"rendered":"ENVIRONMENTAL HEALTH DISINFECTS COMMUNITIES AFFECTED BY TIDAL WAVES"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>The coastal areas of the Volta Region, namely Anloga District, Keta Municipality and Ketu South Municipality had some communities hit by successive tidal waves on the 7<sup>th<\/sup> of November, 2021. This resulted in the damage of properties and the loss of livelihood of many coastal dwellers. In the wake of the tidal waves disaster, the sanitation of the affected areas became a challenge with the potential of resulting into the outbreak of diseases such as diarrhea and cholera. \u00a0To avert the outbreak of the water-related diseases, the Volta Regional Environmental Health Office in January 2022 received funds support from UNICEF to undertake disinfection exercise in the affected communities among which were Kedzikope, Abutiakope and Keta Central ( Keta Municipality), Dzita, Agbledomi and Fuveme (Anloga District) and , Adina, Agavedzi, Amutinu and Salakope (Ketu South ) Several communities in the three districts benefited from the exercise which began on 13<sup>th<\/sup> January 2022 and ended on the 26<sup>th<\/sup> January, 2022.\u00a0 It was led by the Environmental Health Officers at the respective District and Municipal Assemblies under close supervision from the Regional Environmental Health Office.
