Following the tidal wave that hit some coastal communities in the Ketu South Municipality, causing loss of property and livelihood to some, the Hon. Regional Minister, Dr. Archibald Yao Letsa, together with the Hon. Municipal Chief Executive for Ketu South, Mr. Elliott Edem Agbenorwu joined the Hon. Minister for Works and Housing, Mr. Francis Asenso-Boakyeand officials from the Ministry to tour some of the communities and interact with the chiefs and people of the area. Communities toured were Agavedzi, Salakofe, and Amutinu all in the SomeyTraditional Area. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
At a mini durbar of Chiefs and people of the area the Paramount Chief, Togbe Adama III, acknowledged and showed gratitude for the role the Hon. Municipal Chief Executive, the Hon. Member of Parliament for the area and the Hon. Regional Minister were playing since the disaster occurred.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Dr. Letsa stated that government was working assiduously to address the disaster.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
On his part, the Sector Minister stated that the protection of coastal communities against tidal waves was high on the agenda of government.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Hon. Asenso-Boakye reiterated that government had already put in place plans to fix the problem the coastal communities were facing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He was optimistic that his next visit to the area, within the year, would be with H.E. the President of the Republic of Ghana, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo to cut sod for the second phase of the Blekusu-Amutsinu Sea Defense Wall Project. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
He concluded that under the administration of Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, an unprecedented 8 km of sea defensewall would be constructed under the second phase with funding from Government of Ghana.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
