On Wednesday 25th May, 2022, the Department of Gender embarked on the third day of it’s tracking of beneficiaries of the 2021 Adolescent Mentorship and Empowerment Programme. This is an activity being sponsored by UNFPA.

The team visited three schools in the Afadjato South District namely, Have D/A JHS, Ve-Golokuati D/A JHS and Liati Agbonyra R/C Basic School, where both mentees and their colleague students were engaged.

Present for the day’s tracking were Mrs. Thywill Eyra Kpe the Regional Director (DoG), Madam Millicent Dakeh the Regional Girls Education Officer (GES), the district girl’s education coordinator for Afadjato South and supporting staff from the regional office of the Department of Gender.

Again, Students were educated on sexual abuse, adolescent sexual and reproductive health and menstrual hygiene.

In all, 178 adolescents were reached in the district, while the girls were presented with sanitary pads.\
