Tafi Atome Monkey Sanctuary and Cultural Village Tourist Information/Receptive Centre Commissioned
The Hon. Minister for Tourism, Arts and Culture in the company of the Hon. Volta Regional Minister has commissioned the Tafi Atome Monkey Sanctuary and Cultural Village Tourist Information/Receptive Centre a home for Mona and Patas Monkeys in the Afadzato South District.
The project is an upgrade work of the Sanctuary and is in line with Government’s commitment through the Ghana Tourism Authority to upgrade some selected tourist sites in the country using the Tourism Development Fund.
The upgrade work included the construction of a New Tourist Receptive facility, construction of a modern 7-seater Washroom (toilet), construction of three visitor pavilions, erection of wire mesh and bamboo fencing of the perimeter, pavement of the grounds and car park as well as painting of existing structures.
The project would contribute to the harnessing of the tourism potentials of the Afadzato South District to boost local economic development.
It must be noted that the Afadzato South District is the tourism hub of the Volta Region serving as a home to fourteen tourist sites such as Mt Afadza, Tagbo and Aflabo Falls, Ancient Caves, and Snake Village.
In his address, the Hon. Regional Minister, Dr. Archibald Yao Letsa stated that the commitment of government towards tourism development and promotion under the leadership of H.E Nana Akufo-Addo, the President of the Republic of Ghana, was unwavering. He therefore was confident that H.E. Nana Akufo-Addo, continue to lead the country, and more tourist sites in the Region would be developed in the following four years.
