The Right to Information Officer for the Volta Regional Coordinating Council (VRCC), Mrs. Josephine Dake-Abrahams on the 8th May 2024, sensitized the management and staff of the Minerals Commission, Ho in the Volta Region on the Right to Information (RTI) Act 989.

The Regional Head of the Minerals Commission – Ho, Mr. Isaac Mernu in his opening address stated that it is very important for everyone to understand the tenets of the Act 989 and its rudiments to help them in the proper execution of their jobs.

Mrs. Josephine Dake-Abrahams explained the basic fundamentals of the Acts, its purpose, application procedures, The Commission, turnaround times, review mechanisms, exempt clauses, sanctions amongst others.

The sensitization program which was attended by all staff was a very interactive one. Amongst suggestions they gave was that more sensitization should be done especially for staff in regional and district offices to keep them abreast with time. They also suggested that because of inflation, our pricing should either be pegged to a dollar equivalent or rather, it should increase by a percentage yearly.

In his closing address, the Regional Head of the Commission expressed his deepest gratitude to the RTI Officer for the knowledge impacted.
