The management and staff of the Agotime-Ziope District Assembly in the Volta Region were sensitized on the Right to Information (RTI) Act on the 16th June 2023.

The District Coordinating Director, Mr Akuffo K. Reuben in his opening address mentioned the need for every staff to be abreast with the ACT and its implications for every staff.

The Right to Information Officer for the Volta Regional Coordinating Council (VRCC), Mrs. Josephine Dake-Abrahams took the participants through the essence of the RTI Act, its background and legal foundation, the application procedures, The Commission, review and appeal mechanisms, exempt clauses, sanctions amongst others.

The Municipal Information Officer/Acting PRO of the Municipal District Assembly, Mr. Richmond Abake, advised staff to follow the tenets of the law which in the long run will help in deepening the nation’s democracy and equally strengthening its Institutions.

The program which was held in the Assembly’s Conference Hall was well attended by about Thirty Seven (37) management and staff.

The sensitization program was a very interactive one with staff and management asking very practical and relevant questions which were all addressed.

In his closing address, the Coordinating Director expressed his heartfelt appreciation to Mr. Abake and Mrs. Dake-Abrahams for the knowledge impacted.
