Remembrance Day Observed in the Volta Region
The Volta Region on Monday, November 11, 2019 observed with a parade and laying of wreaths, the Remembrance Day which marked the end of World War I on the 11th hour of November 11, 1918. The Day was observed at the Jubilee Park, Ho.
The parade was made up of 8 Officers as well as 124 Men and Women drawn from the Security Services in the Region, namely the 66 Artillery Regiment of the Ghana Armed Forces; Ghana Police Service, Ghana Prisons Service; Ghana National Fire and Rescue Service; Ghana Immigration Service; and Customs Division of the Ghana Revenue Authority. The Parade was under the command of Capt. Senyo Kofi Dzamefe.
The Hon. Volta Regional Minister, Dr. Archibald Yao Letsa laid a wreath on behalf of the President of the Republic of Ghana, His Excellency Nana Akufo Addo and the people of Ghana while three other wreaths were laid on behalf of the Regional Security Services, Chiefs and People of the Volta Region and the Veterans Administration of Ghana respectively.
The Parade was attended by Regional Security Council Members as well as some Heads of Department in the Region.
In a speech, the Hon. Regional Minister stated “May the Souls of our Fallen Heroes continue to Rest in Perfect Peace as we remember them for their efforts in ensuring the relative World Peace we now enjoy.”
