Regional Minister Calls for Unity; Announces Monitoring Tour of Eastern Corridor and Legacy Projects at Dodoleglime Festival
The Volta Regional Minister has reaffirmed government’s commitment to development in the Afadjato South District, emphasizing that the area known as the tourism headquarters of the Volta Region, will benefit significantly from upcoming legacy projects under the Mahama Government.
The Dodoleglime Festival, celebrated annually by the people of Ve, commemorates their liberation from the oppressive rule in Notsie and honours the courage of their ancestors. It serves as a reminder of unity, resilience, and the collective strength that sustained their forefathers through difficult times.
Speaking at this year’s festival held at the old Municipal Assembly forecourt at Golokwati, the Regional Minister stressed that unity remains the most powerful tool for collaboration and progress. He urged chiefs and residents to uphold the same spirit of solidarity that defined both their historical escape from Notsie and the resolve shown during the 2024 elections, which he likened to the Dodoleglime narrative of determination and purposeful struggle.
Responding to Togbui’s concern about the state of the Eastern Corridor Road, the Minister announced that he will embark on a comprehensive monitoring tour of the Eastern Corridor and Big Push project roads on Tuesday, 18th and Wednesday, 19th November. He revealed that he will be accompanied by the President of the Volta Regional House of Chiefs and other key stakeholders to inspect ongoing works and ensure timely delivery.
The District Chief Executive for Afadjato South, Hon. Manfred Tawiah, highlighted that several essential projects including CHPS compounds, school infrastructure, and boreholes, are scheduled for construction to improve healthcare, education, and water accessibility in the district.
Adding to the developmental updates, the Member of Parliament for Afadjato South, Hon. Frank Afriyie, announced that a new National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA) office has been established in the district, easing access to registration and renewals for residents who previously travelled long distances.
To climax the occasion, the Regional Minister, MP, and DCE jointly made a handsome cash donation alongside additional gifts to support the festival and the community.
