The Regional Environmental Health Unit as part of its planned activities held a review meeting with Municipal and District Environmental Health Officers (MDEHOs) on the 27th of October, 2022 at the Volta Regional Coordinating Council (VRCC). The meeting enabled the Unit and the MDEHOs to review the activities of the Municipalities and Districts in the area of Sanitation, and also plan for the subsequent month within the year.

The Regional Environmental Health Officer, Ms. Stella Kumedzro commended the Municipal and District Environmental Health Officers (M/DEHO’S) for their efforts in ensuring the promotion of sanitation in the Region.

The Acting Regional Coordinating Director, Mr. Augustus Awity, who graced the meeting, in his opening remarks, acknowledge the efforts of the M/DEHO’S and implored them to continue to improve upon the execution of their duties.  

He also expressed his interest in improving sanitation and entreated the MDEHOs to be involved in critical activities such as Planning and Integrated Composite Budget Preparation Activities of their respective Municipal and District Assemblies.

He also expressed his commitment to ensuring that Municipal and District Assemblies support the activities of Environmental Health and Sanitation Units.

During the meeting, three districts made presentations on issues relating to Sanitation. There were, also, discussions on a training conference which should be organized for the MDEHO’S.

A Representative of the Zoomlion Ghana Ltd expressed gratitude for the support the various Environmental Health and Sanitation Units provided for the company over the years. He therefore requested continuity in the support provided in the years ahead.

Finally, the Environmental Health Officers assured the Regional Environmental Health Officer and the Acting Regional Coordinating Director that they would continue to work with much dedication for improvement in their performance.
