The Regional Department of Social Welfare has participated in the launch of Mount Saviour Foundation on 6th August, 2022 at Anyinawase in the Ho West District of the Volta Region. The Foundation , a Non-Governental Organisation (NGO) seeks to promote the well-being of the vulnerable segment of society.

During the ceremony to launch the Foundation, the Regional Director of the Department of Social Welfare, Mrs. Stella Agbezuhlor Mawutor who was the Guest Speaker extended the warm felicitations of the Regional Minister and the Volta Regional Coordinating Council to the Foundation and the Anyinawase Community. She highlighted the important role played by NGOs in complementing the efforts of Government targeted at the vulnerable in Society.

She therefore extoled the Foundation for making the necessary effort to operate according to Government’s prescribed procedures, including registration and licensing from the relevant Government institutions. She, however, advised the Foundation to collaborate with relevant government agencies which work with the vulnerable in order to achieve sustainable results.

Furthermore, she entreated the Foundation to seek local sources of funding and not over rely on donor support in order to ensure sustainability of its activities.

Finally, Mrs. Mawutor seized the opportunity to encourage NGOs to do proper Needs Assessment and Baseline Study to identify the felt-needs of their target groups to ensure that their programmes impact the lives of the beneficiaries and promote good wellbeing outcomes.
