On Wednesday 15th June, 2022, the Department of Gender held a monitoring and sensitization exercise with members of Community Watch Committee from six (6) communities and community members of Mafi Tsawla within the Central Tongu District.

The exercise was supported by UNFPA and focused on the progress of work by Community Watch committee Members of the various communities gathered as well as issues of responsible parenting, ending teenage pregnancy and child marriage in the district.

Members of the watch committee and parents of the Mafi Tsawla Community including session of students were engaged the laws regarding Sexual and Gender-Based Violence, the rights and responsibilities of parents towards their children, Teenage Pregnancy and its effects and Adolescent Sexual and Reproductive Health.

Parents were encouraged to support the activities of the watch committees in order to safeguard the children in their communities.

In attendance were Togbi Akliku Ahorney II, Chief of Mafi Dadoboe, the Regional Director of Department of Children, the Regional Director of Department of Gender and her staff, the Central Tongu District Director of NCCE, the District Public Health Nurse for the area the Assemblymen, the community Watching Committee members, teachers and students of Mafi Tsawla Junior High School and parents from the community.
