Located in Sokode Gborgame, off the Gborgame-Abutia Road, is the “From Home (Aƒe) Farm”, a farm which began in 2014 with ten thousand (10,000) chickens. However, currently it houses forty-five (45,000) fowls out of its capacity of sixty thousand (60,000) fowls. It is the first and only farm in the Volta Region with a state-of-the-art fully automated battery cage system that houses 32,000 layers.

The “From Home (Aƒe) Farm” also has some layers which are being raised using the manual battery cage system and deep litter system.

To meet the feed needs of the farm, the Farm has a poultry feed processing mill with the capacity to produce ten (10) tonnes of feed a day.

On Tuesday, April 19, 2022, the Hon. Volta Regional Minister, Dr. Archibald Yao Letsa paid a working visit to the Farm.  The Owner and Chief Executive Officer of the Farm, Mr. Joe Ayivor conducted the Hon. Volta Regional Minister round and briefed him on the Farm.

Dr. Letsa indicated how highly impressed he was and stated that his visit to the Farm was to enable him familiarise himself with the great investment which is contributing to the economic transformation of the Volta Region, and commend as well as encourage the owner and Management of the Farm to continue with their quest to change the narrative of the Region.

Furthermore, Dr. Letsa stated that the visit was to enable him familiarize himself with the challenges of the Farm and how government could help address them. He, therefore, took notice of the critical challenge of a deplorable road leading to the Farm and stated that the necessary steps would be taken to have it improved upon.
