Grand finale of the 2026 Volta Cup
I was at the Ho Sports Stadium, together with Ghanaian football star André Morgan Dede Ayew, Raheem Ayew, the Member of Parliament for Ketu North, Hon. Eric Edem Agbana, the Regional DRIP Coordinator and Deputy Regional Organizer of the NDC, Mr. Elliot Wogbe, and other distinguished guests, for the grand finale of the 2026 Volta Cup.
The tournament provided a platform for our young football talents to showcase their skills while using the power of sport to develop young people, identify and nurture talents, create career opportunities, and promote peace and unity.
The Volta Cup served as an important platform for the selection of talented young players who will form the Volta Under-19 team for the GFA Elite U-19 Championship, scheduled for August 24–30, 2026.
Beyond the competition, there are even greater opportunities ahead. Some of the outstanding players identified through this initiative will be given the opportunity to travel to Portugal for trials in November this year, through our valued partners. This is a significant step towards creating pathways for our young talents to pursue professional football careers.
I warmly congratulate all the players, coaches, technical teams and participating zones for their exceptional performance, sportsmanship and commitment throughout the competition. Special congratulations to Northern Zone A for emerging as champions of the 2026 Volta Cup.
On behalf of the good people of the Volta Region, I extend my profound appreciation to André Morgan Dede Ayew and his brother, Raheem Ayew, for gracing the occasion and lending their support to the development of our young talents. I am particularly grateful for their generous donation of GH₵10,000 towards the ongoing Para Wheelchair Basketball Competition in our Regional Capital, Ho.
I look forward to building stronger partnerships with you as we continue to create more opportunities for the youth of the Volta Region.
