First Volta Regional Co-ordinating Council Meeting for 2021 held
In line with Sections 191(1) and 191(2) of the Local Governance Act, 2016, Act 936, the Hon. Volta Regional Minister, Dr. Archibald Yao Letsa, convened and addressed the first meeting of the Volta Regional Co-ordinating Council for the year 2021 on Thursday, 24th June 2021 at the Residency Conference Hall in Ho.
Members of the Council as stated in Section 187(1) of Act 936 attended the meeting. They were Municipal and District Chief Executives, Presiding members, two representatives of the Volta Regional House of Chiefs, Regional Heads of Department and Agency and the Hon. Regional Minister.
In attendance were District Co-ordinating Directors and Regional Heads of Security Services.
The Hon. Regional Minister addressed the Council on the State of the Region.
At the meeting, presentations were made by the Regional Offices of the Forestry Services Division of the Forestry Commission, and Minerals Commission on their respective roles and activities in the Region.
Furthermore, there was a presentation from the Regional Director, Department of Gender on Sexual and Gender-Based Violence and its Prevention.
The Regional Office of Zoomlion Ghana Ltd was given the opportunity to make a presentation on services of the company in the Region and how the company was assisting the Assemblies address the sanitation challenges in the Region.
In addition, the Regional Statistician made a presentation on preparations towards the 2021 Population and Housing Census and the role expected of all stakeholders to make the exercise a big success in the Region.
Finally, the South Tongu and Adaklu District Assemblies and the Ho Municipal Assembly addressed the meeting on the operationalization of their respective sub-structures.
